Cheryl D. James

Cheryl has been a Police Communications Technician (PCT) for over twenty–two years.
She is well versed in many areas within the Communications Section.  Cheryl works as an
E911 call taker, Police Alarm Review (PAR) operator, Zone and Citywide Dispatcher.
Cheryl enjoys working as a Citywide Dispatcher.  She has the responsibility of dispatching
the elite units such as Harbor, Aviation, Highway and the Bomb Squad.   Cheryl has
dispatched many critical incidents, and has always been proficient.  Nevertheless, nothing
will compare to the experiences of September 11, 2001. Even though Cheryl was
expecting her son Elijah during that horrific day, she put her personal feelings aside, and
wore the “professional dispatcher” banner with honors.

Cheryl is a mother of two young sons, Isaiah, 9, and 5 ½ year old Elijah.   She enjoys
reading, traveling, watching movies and spending quality time with her sons.
